The Eye Technology Institute is unique among
ophthalmology programs nationwide in its focus on developing
better diagnostic and treatment tools for ocular disorders
and other medical conditions that impact sight. Our physician-scientists
are using the eye as a window to internal structures in the
body, including the nervous system, blood vessels and tissue
fluids.

Mark S. Borchert,
MD, is director of the Eye Birth Defects Institute and Eye Technology
Institute in the Vision Center at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles,
where he heads its Division of Ophthalmology. After receiving
his medical degree at Baylor College of Medicine, Dr. Borchert
completed his residency at the Doheny Eye Institute University
of Southern California, and a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology
at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, Harvard University.
